Lagoa will host its eleventh International Guitar Festival from September 20 to October 1 and promises a blend of music and heritage.
It will showcase talented guitarists from around the world with performances taking place in various locations in Lagoa, highlighting its rich cultural and architectural heritage.
The festival offers a diverse schedule of events against the backdrop of famed wineries and historic landmarks, showcasing genres popular in modern artistry and providing insights into the guitar, its musicians, and their music. The grand finale on October 1, celebrated as World Music Day, will feature the captivating ‘Irish Celtic Night’, marking a fitting end to this celebration of global musical talent.
Adding a visual dimension to the festival, from the September 21 to November 3, the Carlos do Carmo Auditorium will feature the “Lutes of the World” themed exhibition, “Músicas de Ver,” adding a visual dimension to the musical festivities.

Meanwhile, in Tavira, the exhibition “Bread. Oil. Wine: Rituals of Faith” at the Church and Casa Museu da Misericórdia de Tavira explores the intersections between food and spiritual traditions.
Open until May 31 2025, this exhibition delves into the significance of bread, olive oil, and wine across Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, illustrating their roles in everyday life and religious ceremonies. It offers a profound glimpse into how these elements have symbolised sacredness and unity throughout history.
