This weekend Lagoa hosts the 19th Mostra do Doce Conventual (Conventual Sweet Fair) and the following weekend Silves will host the last two concerts of the Jazz nas Adegas (Jazz in the Wine Cellars).
Sweet Fair
From August 31 to September 3 the Convento de São José is the setting for Lagoa’s 19th Conventual Sweet Fair (Mostra do Doce Conventual).
Open each day from 7pm to midnight with free entrance, sweets of every variety can be tasted.
The fair showcases well-known and little-known sweets, jams, honey and tastings of classic beverages such as the local medronho (fruit brandy made from the arbutus berry).
The event includes other diversions such as an art exhibition by Ana Remígio entitled Voyage to the Fantastic World of ANART and the second Rural Song Festival.

Jazz and wine
The final two concerts of the 6th Jazz nas Adegas will take place on September 8 and 9 at Quinta de Mata Mouros – Adega do Convento do Paraíso in Silves.
The concerts will feature Manouche Station, a Gipsy Jazz quartet that will perform a repertoire of 20s and 30s music.
Alongside the concert, there will be a wine tasting featuring the producer’s finest wines, a tapas sampling showcasing local delicacies, a voucher for exploring Silve’s Castle and the Municipal Museum of Archaeology as well as a complimentary bottle of wine.
This event is exclusively for those over 18 years of age with tickets priced at €20, available for purchase both online and at or FNAC, Worten and post offices (CTT).
