The new initiative by Lagoa council, Lagoa Wine Sessions, is now moving onto its third session with the aim to promote local wines among visitors to the region.
To date two sessions have been held, at Aqua Hotel Riverside in April and Vila Vita Parc in May, where wine producers together with hotel and tourism representatives get together to encourage visitors to learn more about Algarve’s wines.
The June 13 session will take place at Victor’s Village, Ferragudo, where wines produced by Herdade dos Pimenteis and Monte do Lobo will be presented.
On June 27 Monte Santo Resort will host wines from Quinta dos Santos with Hotel Lagoa hosting VS Vinhos on July 18.
Described as “one of the biggest wine events in the south of Portugal” the popular Lagoa Wine Show will take place over the weekend of June 20-22 followed by Quinta dos Vales wines being featured at Tivoli Carvoeiro on September 10, Monte dos Salicos at Pestana Carvoeiro Golf on October 2 and the final session will be held at Água Hotels Vale da Lapa will feature EDD’s Vineyards on October 31.
The Lagoa Wine Show is now in its fifth year and will be held in the centre of Lagoa, in Rua Coronel Figueiredo, where there will be plenty of gastronomic delights to complement the different local wines. With live music, including fado, and of course entertainment these three days are definitely not to be missed.
Lagoa council says that “… wine tourism is one of the municipality’s priorities in its strategy to strengthen Lagoa’s reputation as a high-quality tourism destination.” It continues by saying that wine tourism “… is complementary to the Algarve’s sun and beaches and is considered a way of fighting seasonality.”
