A choice of Algarve events in June

Faro, old town centre

Algarve is buzzing with visitors and there is a wide choice of events to enjoy throughout the summer.

We pick four different events in June that might take your fancy.

Carvoeiro – Black and White Night

This weekend, June 18, Carvoeiro hosts its 8th Black and White Night. Starting at 8.30pm and continuing through to 3am on Sunday, entrance is free and of course most shops, restaurants and bars will be open.

There will be street entertainment, plenty of opportunity to dance and of course music the whole night through.

Visitors must dress in black, white or a mix of both and no traffic is allowed through the town as of 6pm. Free buses run all night to and from Lagoa to Carvoeiro, stopping off at different points along the way – parking is available at Fatacil, Aldi, Apolónia and Intermarché.

Loulé – MED Festival

The 18th MED Festival starts on June 30 in Loulé and continues through to July 3.

The event is inspired by Mediterranean culture and transforms the historic centre of Loulé into a parade of artistic displays and a fusion of cultures.

Events during the festival include films, theatrical pieces, art and crafts plus plenty of opportunity to enjoy a wide choice of gastronomical delights.

For more information on the festival click here. Entry starts at €10 with daily, 3 day and family tickets available.

Faro – Artists for Hope

Should you prefer to enjoy art in a calmer atmosphere, Faro Museum (Museu de Faro) has just opened an art exhibition entitled Artists for Hope.

Just a 10-minute walk from the train station in the city’s old town, the museum doesn’t charge an entrance fee and is open Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 6pm and over the weekend from 10.30am to 5pm.

Armação de Pêra – Summer Concert with Orquestra Clássica do Sul

On June 26 the Algarve’s orchestra, Orquestra Clássica do Sul, will be holding one of their Summer Concerts in Armação de Pêra’s parish church.

The concert begins at 9pm, entrance is free and we suggest you arrive a little early to make sure you get a seat.

We could continue with many more events, from racing to local markets. However, space dictates we end here.
