Algarve magic – on stage and in nature

Algarve is becoming busier now we’re moving in to May, with visitors enjoying the sun and sea (although it is still a little cold for those less hardy) and venues opening their doors.

This weekend, April 29 to May 1, DTM makes its debut in Portugal (learn more here) and on May 1 (Mother’s Day in Portugal) Loulé honours the Virgin Mary with festivities and a large parade from the town to the church, Santuário de Nossa Senhora da Piedade – Mãe Soberana.

On May 7, Ria Formosa has an open day at the Marim Environmental Education Centre. The event starts at 10am and admission is free of charge. With the of celebrating the park’s 44 years of protecting flora and fauna visitors can enjoy activities including boat trips, stand up paddle, traditional games, workshops. There will also be the opportunity to talk with those who work in the park itself.

Do you enjoy the unexplained? Magician Mário Daniel is performing at Faro’s Figuras Theatre on May 14 and invites you join him in his show, entitled Magical Minutes – The Show.

It is an interactive performance designed to encourage audience participation.

It is described as a family-friendly show that “challenges spectators and their senses and makes the more sceptical believe in the impossible”.

The show starts at 9.30pm tickets can be bought online here and cost €15 and €18 depending on the seating.
