Earlier this month, May 2021, Portimão council opened registration up to its 21st Photography Race (Corrida Fotográfica) closing on June 14.
Photographers from any part of Portugal can take part, registration is free and can be completed online. If you live locally and would prefer, you can register directly at Portimão’s museum.
This year’s Special Edition is entitled Hope and has four themes; Finally here, Longing for this moment, I see colours, many colours and Happiness.
Entrants must submit three original photographs for each theme, 12 in total, with all entries to have been received by midnight June 28, 2021. For competition rules click here.
The idea this year is to collect testimonies in the form of photographs, recording the impact of the pandemic. How people have adapted, their attitudes and solutions plus the return, or hope of, to a more positive and “normal life.
First prize is €700 with the following four runners-up also receiving prize money.
Portimão’s museum (Museu de Portimão) has now opened after being closed during the recent lockdown. However, if you prefer, virtual visits are available.
