Racing and the Masters

2020 Le Mans three racing cars on Algarve race track

Le Mans in Algarve

The European Le Mans Series is back in the Algarve from October 14 to 16, ending the 2022 season with 41 cars entered across three categories.

The winner will be decided at the end of the four-hour race on October 16 at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve just outside Portimão.

This year, for the first time, Algarve Pro Racing has two cars entered and there will also be three drivers racing under the Portuguese flag, which will certainly add to the excitement.

This is the 16th consecutive edition of the competition in the Algarve and is a great favourite for those both living and visiting the region.

Classic cars

The Algarve Classic Festival is one of the largest classic car meets in the Iberian Peninsula.

Taking place at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve from October 28 to 30, visitors can buy tickets to visit the paddock where they can get up close to those legendary cars.

Categories in the competition include Racing Legends, Endurance Legends and Pre-66 Touring Cars.

F1 back in Algarve

They are back but not racing.

December 14 and 15 are the dates set for Pirelli’s official testing of tyres for the 2023 F1 season.

To date AlphaTauri are the only team to have confirmed they will be at Portimão’s racetrack. It is expected that there will be another team taking part but as yet this is unconfirmed.

Unfortunately for F1 fans, testing will take place behind closed doors. Press are also not invited, as was the case in July when McLaren used the Algarve circuit for testing.
