Streets of Lagos – Faces and Stories of a Community

Portimão 2034 – A Vision for the Future

The old Al-Faghar building in Portimão has reopened with the exhibition Portimão 2034 – The Future in 100 Projects (Portimão 2034: O Futuro em 100 projetos), in celebration of Portimão’s 100 years as a city.

The exhibition, open until March 31, presents a vision of the city’s next decade, showcasing 100 initiatives that will shape its development.

Spread across four floors, the exhibition blends tradition with innovation, sustainability with growth, and progress with preservation.

From urban regeneration and environmental sustainability to social innovation, each project reflects Portimão’s commitment to becoming a resilient city, deeply connected to its heritage while embracing the challenges of the future.

Explore visionary ideas that redefine public spaces, enhance mobility and promote inclusive education and social well-being.

Interactive spaces invite visitors to contribute their own ideas, making this exhibition a collaborative effort in shaping Portimão’s tomorrow.

Admission is free. The exhibition is open from Tuesday to Friday 11am to 8pm, Saturday and Sunday 1pm to 7pm.

A Dark Chapter in History

Until December 1 2025, visitors can step back into one of history’s most harrowing periods at Instruments of Torture and Punishment, an eye-opening exhibition at Castro Marim’s Castle.

This powerful exhibition unveils the brutal methods used by the Catholic Inquisition, which led to thousands of deaths and unimaginable suffering for those who did not conform to the faith.

Visitors can explore replicas of torture devices used to punish the condemned, offering a chilling insight into the dark realities of religious persecution.

A journey through this exhibition is a reminder of the past’s atrocities and a tribute to the resilience of those who suffered.

The exhibition is open between November and March from 9am to 5pm and April to October 9.30am to 6.30pm, closed on Mondays. Admission is free of charge.
