The DP World Tour will visit the Algarve again at the end of October, for the 16th consecutive edition of the Portugal Masters.
With prize money almost reaching €2million the tournament will end the four-event Iberian Swing. For the three consecutive weeks prior to arriving in the Algarve, players will have visited Madrid, Andalucia and Mallorca.
Over the last 16 tournaments no player has won more than once. Thomas Pieters from Belgium won last year with a two-stroke victory.
This was his fifth DP World Tour title to which he added a sixth two months later in Abu Dhabi.
As before, the Portugal Masters will be played at the Dom Pedro Victoria Golf Course in Vilamoura. Dates for your diary are October 27 to 30.
Ben Cowen, the CTBO for the DP World Tour, said that the course “… has provided plenty of drama and excitement over the years …”.
Luis Araújo, President of Turismo de Portugal, stated that by returning for yet another year it shows that the DP World Tour has confidence in Portugal and that the country “not only has the perfect conditions for casual golfers to play and practice, but also the capacity and facilities to host professional events of the highest international standard”.
A useful tool for those wishing to play golf or even visit the Masters is an interactive map featured by Your Golf Travel.
True, it doesn’t feature all the courses, which number some 40, however the map certainly highlights some of the most beautiful of the region’s courses.
