Portimão, a coastal city in the Algarve, is hosting two adrenaline-packed weekends featuring the Superbikes World Championships and the European Le Mans Series.
To end the month of October, classic cars will meet for a weekend in the largest event of its kind in the Iberian Peninsula – the Classic Car Festival.
All are taking place at the Algarve International Circuit, attracting motorsport enthusiasts and racing aficionados alike.
Superbike World Championship
September 29 until October 1 bike enthusiasts will be at the track to watch the penultimate race of the year.
The defending champion, Spain’s Álvaro Bautista, is currently the championship leader and he also holds the majority of the fastest laps this year.
Speed enthusiasts will be treated to high-octane battles as top riders from around the globe fight for points.
Together with Supersport and Supersport 300 riders, there will be seven races to enjoy.
European Le Mans Series
The European Le Mans Series (ELMS) will take place at the Algarve International Circuit over the weekend of October 20-22.
This will be the Grande Finale of this year’s ELMS, with less than 48 hours between the 4 Hours of Portimão race and the 4 Hours of Algarve.
Other races taking place over the weekend include the Le Mans Cup, the Ligier European Series and the World Final of the Radical World Series.
The EMLS was launched in 2021 with five races, including a premier of the 1,000kms race at Estoril. This year’s ELMS is the 20th season thus proving it continues to be a popular event.
Classic Car Festival
Adding a touch of nostalgia, after the earlier two adrenaline-fueled weekends, is the Classic Car Festival.
Taking place from October 27 to 29, this festival is the largest of its kind in the Iberian Peninsula.
There will be five races including the pre-66 touring cars, 1966 to 1985 F1cars, an endurance legends race and the Gentlemen Drivers race.
This weekend is the culmination of the Masters 2023 UK & European Tour which is known as the ultimate testing ground with some on-track challenges for drivers and cars.
Test day is on October 27 with the following days packed with on-track action.
