As autumn settles in, the Algarve is preparing for a series of exciting events. Highlights include the Halloween-themed Fun Day at Portimão Arena, the centuries-old Feira de São Martinho and the Algarve Harp Festival.
Halloween happening
Over October 26 and 27 Portimão Arena will be hosting Fun Day Halloween.
The arena will be transformed into a huge indoor amusement park. There will be the usual bouncy castles, ball pits and trampolines plus candy floss, face painting and also an inflatable disco, obstacle courses, climbing walls.
Open from 10am to 7pm, children between the ages of 2 years to 16 years can enjoy the Halloween-themed activities with or without parents. Children without parents attending will be supported by trained professionals.

Fair fun
Portimão’s annual Feira de São Martinho will be open from November 8 to 17, with free entrance, at the usual location, Portimão’s fair ground.
With roasting chestnuts, live music plus the usual fairground activities, this year’s 361st Feira de São Martinho promises to continue the age-old tradition of fun.
On November 8 the fair will be open from 4pm to 12am, November 10 to 14 from 4pm to 11pm, November 15 and 16 from 4pm to 12am and the final day, November 17, from 4pm to 10pm.
Harp highlights
For the fourth year the Algarve Harp Festival will take place in three locations: Paderne, Lagoa and Monchique.
On November 17, at 4pm, Ana Santos (harp) and Rafael Pinheiro (clarinet) will play in Monchique’s Igreja da Misericórdia.
Paderne’s parish church on November 23 will host Helena Madeira, playing the harp with Ricardo Martinhs the Portuguese guitar, starting at 5pm.
And finally, on November 25 at Lagoa’s chapel in Convento S. José, Katy Salvidge will play the harp starting at 6pm.
All concerts are free however tickets cannot be reserved so make sure you appear at your preferred venue early.
All these events showcase the region’s vibrant mix of tradition, music, and family fun, making autumn in the Algarve a season to remember.
